The STCA is currently restructuring the classification guidelines and they will be available shortly in a newly revised rulebook. We want the entry form to be as uncomplicated as possible, therefore the following rules are shortened versions of the new classification guidelines.
For the teams who have previously competed at the STC Nationals, there are little changes.
The Sportsman's Team Challenge is now divided into nine classes, Industry, Industry Open, Open, AA, A, B, C, Lady, and Junior. If in previous Nationals your team has never scored 400 points or above you may now enter in the Sportsman's B Class. Those teams that have scored above 400 points would have to enter in the Sportsman's A Class.
For new teams trying to establish their entry class, we would first remind you to keep the spirit of the game in mind. In those instances where "known ability" is not available, we must rely on your integrity.
Consider the following basic guideline to enter:
INDUSTRY OPEN
Professional, highly skilled competitors, usually earning a salary from their shooting talents.
SPORTSMAN OPEN
For previous winners of Sportsman's AA Class and serious competitors.
SPORTSMAN AA
For previous winners of Sportsman's A Class and those with advanced skills.
SPORTSMAN A
For more advanced levels of skills in the various disciplines.
SPORTSMAN B
Intended for beginner level competitors with basic shooting skills.
SPORTSMAN C
Intended for entry level competitors. This class will be open to any team ( the team must be intact with all the same members ) that has previously shot the Nationals and fired a score of 324 or lower. This is a trophy only class.
SPORTSMAN LADY
Intended for teams made up of all female participants.
SPORTSMAN'S JUNIOR
14 - 18 years of age. No team member can turn 19 years of age prior to shooting the event. Teams can consist of boys, girls, or both. This is a trophy only class.
This is intended as a guideline to assist you in your decision on how to classify your team. If you are unable to reach a clear determination of where your team should be placed, simply contact the STCA and the Classification Committee will readily assist you. All new teams will be reviewed for known ability upon receipt of their entry.

* The STC Competition Committee reserves the right to review all classification answers, to seek and to review information and make all final decisions in regard to team classification.
** Entry fee return policy. The Sportsman's Team Challenge Association will refund 100% of entry fee for cancellations up to June 1, 2010.
Any Sportsman A,B,C, Lady, or Junior Class team may elect to shoot in the Sportsman's Open or Sportsman's AA Class if they choose.
